What a folder transfer keeps
Relative paths
A file at 02_retouched/cover_final.tif arrives at 02_retouched/cover_final.tif. The tree is part of the transfer, not something the recipient rebuilds.
Files with the same name
edit/final.mov and raw/final.mov are two different files, and they stay two different files. This is where several tools quietly overwrite one with the other.
One progress state
Two hundred files inside a folder report as one transfer with one percentage, rather than two hundred separate uploads to watch.
Nested folders go as deep as you built them
There is no flattening at any level. A tree five folders deep arrives five folders deep.
Hidden and system files come along
Files your operating system hides are still files. If they are in the folder they travel, which matters for project formats that depend on them.
Why structure matters
A flat pile of files becomes somebody else's afternoon
Send forty files with no folders and the person receiving them has to work out which belong together. The structure you already built is the answer, so it should survive the trip.

Is there a file count limit?
The limit is on the total size of the transfer, not the number of files inside it.
Do empty folders survive?
Folders arrive because the files inside them carry their paths, so a folder with nothing in it has nothing to carry it.
Can I send a folder from a phone?
Folder selection is available on the web and in the desktop apps. On a phone you select files, and they arrive as one transfer.
Does the recipient get a folder or a list?
They download the structure you sent, so the folders come back as folders.
What if two folders contain files with the same name?
They stay separate. Each file is identified by its whole path, so two files called final.mov in different folders are two files.
Can I add files to a folder transfer afterwards?
A transfer is a fixed delivery once created. Send a second transfer, or recreate it, so the recipient is never unsure which version they have.
